Views from Scarborough Castle made accesible
When English heritage decided to use the upper floors of the Master Gunners house at Scarborough Castle to display artefact's from the castle area, they faced an issue with disabled access. The house itself could not be adapted to allow access to wheelchair users, as some areas of the castle itself were difficult to reach, if the visitor was not particularly able bodied.
The solution arrived at was to provide an interactive Touchscreen in the open air outside the house, which could provide images and interpretation of the artefact's in the house as well as additional information on the whole castle complex.

The challenges Integrated Circles faced included a very exposed cliff top position with a wide variation of weather conditions. We chose to use a Touchscreen monitor suitably IP rated for the external conditions with the computer and power supply remotely located in a weather secure area. A repeater monitor has been specified and fitted within this remote location to allow local monitoring and maintenance as required.
