New look Museum for Brent

When Brent Museum relocated from the Grange Museum premises Integrated Circles were selected to provide the new Audio Visual systems.

A compact museum based in Willesden, the Brent museum is packed with nostalgic artefacts, video displays, oral histories and interactive learning that appeals to visitors young and old. Topics covered are from the History of Wembley Stadium, to the demographic make up of the borough and a collection of household objects from the 1950 &60s.

Integrated Circles installed digital SoundStores for background sound effects and listening posts, LCD video screens and projectors for video replay, with a round table projection of the local area. A number of touchscreen interactive displays are available to browse deeper information into the history of the boroughs schools, and a video booth allows visitors to leave messages of their own school experience for others to look at and compare.

An old fashioned telephone exchange was adapted to provide a number of oral histories accessible by plugging in jack plugs as the telephone operator would have done to connect calls in the manual age, butr with Integrated Circles solid State SoundStore technology on the inside to ensure the Sounds will continue to operate for years without degradation. Integrated Circles Project Manager said “This type of customisation is typical of  an application that our solid state technology is ideal for. We are often approached by museums when a “special” is required. For other museums we have adopted old televisions, radio sets and jukeboxes to appear as working, while updated technology on the inside provides stable day to day operation.”
