mus1.gif - 17611 Bytes During the 22 years since the company was founded, Integrated Circles has carried out a wide and varied range of audio visual and special effect projects for Museums, Visitor Attractions, Exhibitions, Heritage Centres and Theme Parks both in the UK and overseas.

Usually Integrated Circles have been called upon through reputation to design, manufacture, install, project manage and service the audio visual systems and has been appointed because of its specialist skill and products, or as a result of a tendering process.

For Example: -

fleet1.gif - 23150 Bytes At the Fleet Air Arm Museum, Integrated Circles designed and installed all the audio visual effects and displays in the Carrier Exhibition and were also responsible for the programme production of all areas. The beginning of the attraction consists of a simulated flight in a helicopter onto an aircraft carrier. The aircraft carrier is a full-scale recreation of an aircraft carrier at sea, and the flight deck is adorned with a variety of real aircraft instrumentation. The center piece of the flight deck is the Phantom aircraft launch, which vividly reproduces the launch sequence of a 30 ton aircraft complete with animated figures, lights, smoke, smells and sound. The visitor then leaves the flight deck and passes though all the active areas of the carrier, seeing in detail the operations room, flight briefing areas and bridge of the ship, together with their support areas, which are brought to life using lighting, smells, audio and dynamic visual effects.

To create the entire experience, Integrated Circles installed a variety of digital sound effects, touchscreen interactive stations, a wide screen experience chamber using three-interlocked video projectors, wind, smell and lighting effects, and control of hydraulic lifts and jet blast deflectors.

guides1.gif - 36479 Bytes At The Guide Heritage Centre, London Integrated Circles were responsible for all the audio visual hardware in the Centre. This included an animated multi-projector random-access show, remotely operated from a Giant Globe by the children. A Magic theatre was created using video projection complete with sound and lighting effects and a secret grotto was designed using lighting and sound effects. A range of interactive workstations were installed for use by the children for educational instruction.

In Singapore, Tiger Balm Gardens is situated on the side of a hill overlooking the bay. At the turn of the Century two brothers, one a chemist and the other a salesman started manufacturing and selling Tiger Balm locally. This panacea for all ailments found its way all over the world and made the brothers wealthy. The chemist died at an early age whilst the salesman went to live on into his eighties. As a tribute to the dead chemist, his brother built the Tiger Balm Gardens.

The Gardens are home to several large Pagodas each housing an audio visual extravaganza. Integrated Circles were commissioned to project an image onto two 10 foot high talking heads, which were to appear to have a conversation with each other. Two different shows were available to the visitors, each with numerous lighting and special effects.

Having completed the initial project, Integrated Circles were then commissioned to re-equip a number of the other Pagodas. Expensive but unreliable equipment installed by others was replaced with Integrated Circles' control equipment to produce reliable shows which have run faultlessly ever since.

jersey.gif - 23016 Bytes The Jersey Maritime Museum is the most recent Museum to be opened by the Jersey Museum Services. Integrated Circles provided all the audio visual equipment for the original Jersey Museum and subsequently for the Elizabeth Castle display and The Tapestry Museum.

The Maritime Museum was designed by the Jersey Museum Services' own staff and was opened to much critical acclaim from all quarters. Working very closely with the Museum staff Integrated Circles were very involved with the detailed design of both the mechanical and electrical infrastructures, liasing with on-site electricians and engineers.

Integrated Circles provided a large variety of both interactive and informative video and audio displays. These ranged from simple multi-select audio and video points to a wall of twelve oil paintings where the artistic techniques and themes were explored in four programmes using lights to identify the areas of the pictures that were being discussed. Although highly complex in its nature, the final result is an elegant presentation that is easy to watch.

One of the most exciting exhibits in the Museum is a Globe measuring four and a half metres in diameter, which is equipped with sailing ships that move around its surface in sync with a narrative about the horrors of long distance sea journeys in the 18th and 19th century. The Globe is a myriad of pneumatic rams and electrical special effects.

Integrated Circles were also responsible for liasing with other artists to create such diverse features as animated Hurdy Gurdies and talking fish.

chatham1.gif - 35474 Bytes At The Chatham Historic Dockyard, Kent, Integrated Circles designed and installed the complete walk-through experience, encompassing a day in the life of the Dockyard in the 16th Century.

To create the desired effect, Integrated Circles sourced and produced all the sounds, smells and other sensual stimuli to re-create the atmosphere of the time. The effects include elaborate lighting illusions, hot air blasts, simulated gun deck movements as well as all the audio visual systems associated with an hour long Visitor Experience. One of the major innovations was the ability of the system to monitor the movement of people travelling through the Exhibition and automatically vary the sound levels to suit the number of Visitors in each area.

Integrated Circles has been back to Chatham several times to install more effects in the Wooden Wall Exhibition, RNLI Lifeboat Museum, The Rope Store, The Ropery, The Sail Loft and most recently the Three Ships Exhibition.

wiclow.jpg - 29219 Bytes In Enniskerry Ireland, before the disastrous fire in l974 that destroyed Powers Court, there stood what was undoubtedly one of the finest country houses in Ireland, set in rolling countryside between Dublin and Wicklow and overlooked by the Sugar Loaf Mountain. Powers Court dates back to the 12th Century, the original Castle being substantially rebuilt in 1731. The fire that destroyed the building in l974 also revealed a lot about the remarkable techniques used to blend the new house to the old Castle.

Integrated Circles won the contract to design and install Audio and Video systems to recreate the atmosphere and tell the story of Powers Court. The harsh environment of stone and brick dust coupled with the relatively high humidity combined to present a challenging and yet very stimulating installation.

For the BNFL Visitors Centre, Sellafield, Integrated Circles designed and installed all the audio visual effects and displays for this major international visitor attraction. There are a variety of theatres throughout the Visitor Centre which employ techniques ranging from a pneumatically controlled puppet theatre, a multiple Pepper's Ghost Diorama, a 14 Video Projector in the round experience and an animated theatre with lighting and sound effects. Incidental to the main shows are a variety of smaller exhibits utilising audio, video, 35mm slide and lighting techniques to entertain and educate the visitors.

At The Royal Naval Museum, Portsmouth Integrated Circles have been responsible for the supply of all the audio visual facilities for the new Douglas Morris and Lambert Macarthey Galleries. Whilst working within the confines of the listed building status of the Museum, Integrated Circles have worked closely with the Museum Designers to create a stimulating and informative exhibit. Subtle lighting effects have been used to tell stories through pictures and sound and touchscreen interactive displays enable the inquisitive visitor to question the Life of Nelson at a variety of levels.

The above is a brief description of a few of the numerous exhibits created or enhanced using Integrated Circles custom designed solutions. Integrated Circles have built, installed and maintained systems at many other museums, Galleries, and Visitor centres throughout the world, and would be delighted to discuss the requirements for your project.
